Early Dental Exams

We recommend scheduling your child’s first dental appointment by their first birthday or within six months of the eruption of their first tooth. This early exam involves looking at your child’s teeth, gums, jaw and more to ensure that your child’s mouth is developing properly. We will also take time to identify any potential issues and to help provide guidance on how to best keep your little one’s oral hygiene in tip-top shape.

Cleanings And Check-Ups

No matter your child’s age, regular cleanings and check-ups are important for your child’s oral health and overall well-being. We recommend that your child come in to see us every six months or twice a year. These regular check-ups include:

X-Rays: If necessary, we will perform X-rays of your child’s mouth in order to thoroughly examine their teeth.
Overall Exam: We will examine every area of your child’s mouth, including the teeth, cheeks, tongue and gums.

Cleaning: Using a tooth polisher, we will thoroughly clean your child’s teeth. We use fun, child-friendly flavors of toothpaste!
Fluoride Treatment: As needed, fluoride is an excellent treatment to help keep your child’s teeth healthy and strong.

Dr. Eddleman and our team will also go over your child’s at-home dental routine. We want to make sure that you feel comfortable and knowledgeable about how to best care for your child’s teeth, and we are happy to go over any questions or concerns you may have.

Fluoride Treatments

The health of your child’s teeth and gums is important to us, which is why we recommend fluoride treatments. Fluoride is a mineral treatment that helps strengthen teeth and prevent tooth decay. For your child’s at-home pediatric dental care, we recommend that they brush their teeth with a fluoride toothpaste to help their teeth stay extra healthy and strong.

Dental Sealants

Dental sealants are an excellent preventative measure for kids. The sealant is a coating that is placed over a tooth. They help protect your child’s teeth by preventing decay and cavities, especially in hard to reach places, like your child’s back teeth. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), sealants can prevent 80% of cavities over two years in the back teeth. This treatment is a quick and easy way to protect your child’s teeth.

Restorative Dentistry

At Eddleman Dental, we believe that preventative dental care is key, and we will always do our best to prevent your child from facing dental issues. However, sometimes restorative dentistry is necessary. Our team provides safe, effective restorative treatments to get your child’s dental health back on track. Some treatments include:

Dental Fillings: If your child has a cavity, a dental filling is an excellent way to restore their tooth. We will make sure your child feels safe and comfortable as we numb the area so that they will not feel any pain or discomfort. Then, we will remove the decay and fill the tooth with a tooth-colored material. Their tooth will be restored in no time!
Crowns: If your child has a more advanced decayed tooth, we may recommend a crown. A crown covers your child’s tooth. During the procedure, we will use nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, to make your child feel as comfortable as possible, and we will also numb the area with a local anesthetic as the crown is fitted over your child’s tooth.
