Tooth whitening – Commonly referred to as bleaching – has never been faster or easier than it is today. Dental bleaching can be used to correct tooth discoloration. Discolorations can be caused by staining, aging, or chemical damage to teeth. Using the latest in bleaching technology, we offer safe methods for creating a beautiful “brilliant” smile. In cases of extreme tooth discoloration, crowns or veneers may be the only choice, but because of the low cost of bleaching treatments, bleaching is nearly always worth a try. Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with our simple “bleaching” procedure. Thanks to a breakthrough technology, we now can offer you 2 proven whitening options:
Option 1
IN OFFICE WHITENING
Zoom Whitening is an Advanced Power Whitening system is a great alternative to the tray whitening system. Zoom! Whitening is a bleaching process that lightens discolored teeth. Zoom! is performed in the dental office by our doctors and their team. The procedure only takes about one and a half hours and the patient will leave the clinic with a brighter and whiter smile. The procedure is very simple. First, we will cover the lips and gums – exposing only the teeth. Next, the whitening gel is applied to the teeth. This gel is specially designed to work with the Zoom AP light. The light and gel work together to break up stains and discolorations. The gel is applied in four 15 minutes sessions with the options of high, medium, or low intensity settings to cater to those who are more sensitive. After 1 hour the patient’s smile can be about eight shades whiter, depending on the starting shade.
Zoom whitening is great for patients who want immediate gratification. Although the cost is slightly higher than custom tray whitening, patients who don’t want to whiten at home typically enjoy the convenience, ease, and result that Zoom in office provides.
Option 2
CUSTOM HOME WHITENING TRAYS
Custom Whitening trays – Our doctors will create a custom fit mouthpiece from an impression of the patient’s teeth. The trays will then fit securely around each tooth. The professional strength whitening gel is applied in the trays and the trays are inserted into the mouth and worn either during sleep or day depending on the type of whitening treatment that meets your specific needs. The patient will have a whiter and brighter smile in about 1-2 weeks.

Results from professional treatments can be immediate (up to 8 shades whiter in 45 minutes), and because a dental professional is involved, the process is safe, reliable and hassle free.
What is the difference between professional and over-the-counter whitening treatments? Non-professional whitening treatments are over the counter products such as strips and toothpaste. These products vary in their price, difficulty of use and effectiveness.
Frequently asked questions
What causes yellow teeth?
There are numerous types of teeth stains; some are genetic, environmental or pharmacological in nature. The most common are surface stains on the enamel or beneath the enamel in the dentin. Surface stains are caused by foods, beverages and lifestyle behaviors, like smoking. Over time, surface stains may penetrate the enamel and change the color of the dentin, which darkens the overall appearance of the tooth due to the translucency of the enamel layer. When this occurs, the tooth often appears yellow.
What teeth whitening options are there? There are many whitening options, from OTC toothpastes, rinses and strips, to professionally supervised solutions such as Philips Zoom in-office and KöR take-home whitening.
How do whitening products remove surface stains?
Certain products may remove surface stains by using abrasion or through a chemical reaction. Whitening toothpastes may contain silica molecules that polish the enamel. Rechargeable toothbrushes such as Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean use the action of the bristles on the tooth surface to remove the stains.
How do whitening products remove stains below the enamel?
Whitening products including hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide, which cause a chemical reaction that breaks apart the carbon bonds that create yellow stains. Once the bonds are broken, they no longer reflect a yellow color.
Is teeth whitening safe for my teeth?
As with any product you use on your body, be sure to follow the teeth whitening directions carefully. Some whitening products can irritate your gums or cause undue sensitivity if used improperly or too often.
How long does my treatment last?
Most whitening services are designed to last for a long period of time, but relapse is not uncommon due to personal behaviors that restain your teeth.
